Brief Details about Fateh Sagar
Lake Fateh Sagar in Udaipur is a famous lake in the state which stands out for its natural beauty. Lake Fateh Sagar is a medium-sized permanent storage reservoir constructed in the year of 1678 A. D. by the then rulers of former Mewar State. The lake lies on the northwest of main Udaipur city and is to be found to the north of Lake Pichola.

Lake Fateh Sagar was primarily constructed with the intention of irrigational purpose. Gradually this water body has become the reliable source of water supply in the whole area. Lake Fateh Sagar is in fact the second major source of drinking water for the city of Udaipur. Madar tank is the place from where the main feeder canal of the lake comes. Madar tank is at a higher altitude at about 15 km from Udaipur City. Lake Fateh Sagar is also connected to the adjoining Lake Pichola through a canal having gates. Lake Fateh Sagar has somewhat pear-like shape and is surrounded by hills except on its eastern side where a straight masonry dam of about 800 m length is located.
